The short version
- We don’t collect any personal data. BlueDose has no account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party advertising or analytics code.
- Everything you enter stays on your device. Your pools, hot tubs, test results, log and settings are stored on your phone. They’re never sent to us, and we have no server that could receive them.
- BlueDose works offline. Every calculation runs on your device.
- Your data is included in Android’s own system backup only if you have it turned on. That backup belongs to your Google account, and we can’t see it.
- You can delete everything from inside the app or by uninstalling BlueDose.
1. Who we are
BlueDose is published by Swift Softs, which is responsible for this app and this policy. For any question about privacy, email [email protected].
2. What BlueDose stores, and where
When you use BlueDose, the information you enter is stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage. This includes:
- Pool and hot tub profiles: name, type, shape, dimensions, volume, units and sanitizer settings
- Water test results (free and combined chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, salt, borates, temperature and bromine) and the date and time of each test
- The chemicals and product strengths you choose, your preferred range set, and app settings such as units and app language
- Maintenance tasks and reminder schedules
We don’t receive, see, store, sell or share any of this information. BlueDose doesn’t upload it anywhere, and there’s no BlueDose server or cloud account.
3. What BlueDose does not collect
BlueDose does not collect, and does not ask for:
- Your name, email address, phone number, postal address or any other contact details
- An account, login or password
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone
- Advertising IDs or other device identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports or any record of how you use the app
BlueDose contains no advertising and no analytics, tracking or advertising software development kits (SDKs).
4. Android system backup
Android has a built-in backup feature that you control in your phone’s settings (often Settings > Google > Backup, depending on the device). If it’s turned on, Android may include BlueDose’s saved data in your personal device backup, or copy it to a new phone during setup. That backup is stored in your own Google account, is handled by Android and Google under Google’s terms, and can’t be accessed by us. If you don’t want BlueDose data included, turn off device backup in Android settings.
5. Backups, restores and CSV exports you make
BlueDose lets you export your test log as a CSV file and create a backup file you can restore later. These files are created only when you ask for them. You choose where they go, such as your phone’s storage, a cloud drive or an email. We don’t receive a copy. Once a file leaves BlueDose, it’s handled by the app or service you chose, so keep it somewhere you trust.
6. Notifications
Test and maintenance reminders are local notifications. They’re scheduled on your device and shown by your device. BlueDose doesn’t use push notifications from a server, and no reminder information is sent anywhere. On Android 13 and later, Android asks for your permission before BlueDose can show notifications. You can turn reminders off in the app or in Android settings at any time.
7. Permissions
| Permission | Why BlueDose uses it |
|---|---|
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | To show the reminders you set. Android asks you first. |
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | To restore your reminders after your phone restarts |
Vibrate (VIBRATE) | For reminder notifications |
BlueDose does not request internet access, location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or accounts.
8. Google Play
BlueDose is distributed through Google Play, which is run by Google under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
- Ratings prompt: BlueDose may show Google Play’s in-app review prompt. Google Play displays it and handles your rating and review. BlueDose doesn’t receive them, and a review you post is public on the Play Store under your Google Play profile.
- Crash and performance statistics: if you’ve chosen to share usage and diagnostics data with Google on your device, Google Play may give us aggregated statistics about crashes and app performance (Android vitals). These don’t identify you. BlueDose has no crash-reporting or analytics software of its own.
9. If you contact us
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, such as a screenshot or your test readings. We use it only to reply and to fix or improve BlueDose. We never add you to a mailing list or share your email. We delete support emails once they’re no longer needed, normally within 24 months, and sooner if you ask.
10. How long data is kept
- Data in the app stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall BlueDose.
- Android system backups are kept and deleted under your Google account settings.
- Emails you send us are kept as described in section 9.
11. Deleting your data
- In the app: delete a single test by long-pressing it in the Log, or delete a pool or hot tub together with all its tests from its settings (Delete this pool and its log).
- Everything at once: uninstalling BlueDose permanently removes all its data from your device. You can also use Android Settings > Apps > BlueDose > Storage > Clear storage.
- Android backup: manage or delete device backups in your Google account or in Android’s backup settings.
- Files you exported: delete them wherever you saved them.
We hold no copy of your BlueDose data, so there’s nothing for us to delete on our side except any emails you’ve sent us. We’ll delete those on request.
12. Security
Your data is kept in BlueDose’s private app storage, which Android isolates from other apps. Because nothing is sent over the internet, there’s no data in transit for anyone to intercept. Protect your phone with a screen lock, and store any backup or CSV files you export somewhere you trust.
13. Children
BlueDose is a tool for adults who look after a pool or hot tub. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you think a child has sent us personal information by email, contact [email protected] and we’ll delete it.
14. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, US state privacy laws such as the CCPA, Canada’s PIPEDA or Australia’s Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. BlueDose doesn’t collect personal information, sell it or share it, so we normally hold nothing about you except emails you’ve sent us. To make a request, email [email protected]. We’ll reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
15. Future changes
If we ever change how BlueDose handles data, we’ll update this policy and the “Last updated” date. If a future version adds advertising or analytics, we’ll announce it in an updated version of this policy before that version is released, and describe the change in the app’s Google Play release notes. The updated policy will say what data is collected, who it’s shared with and what choices you have. Until then, the version of BlueDose you have works exactly as this policy describes.
