This policy explains what information Remote for Android collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built this app to work directly with your TV over your own Wi‑Fi network — not through our servers.
The short version, in plain language
Remote for Android ("the app", "we", "us") turns your phone into a remote control for Android TV and Google TV devices, with optional casting of your own photos and videos. The app is built to do as much as possible on your device and on your local Wi‑Fi network, without sending your TV activity to our servers.
No account or sign‑in is ever required. Remote commands, casting, and browsing traffic stay on your local network, between your phone and your TV.
We do use privacy‑respecting analytics and crash reporting (Firebase, from Google) to understand how the app performs and to fix bugs — details in Section 2. This policy applies to the Remote for Android app and this webpage.
We rely on Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (both provided by Google) to understand feature usage and to catch crashes. These tools automatically collect:
Screens viewed, buttons and remote keys used, connection outcomes, feature milestones (e.g. number of commands sent), and coarse app settings (theme, language). No TV account or personal identity is attached.
Crash logs, stack traces, app version, OS version, and device model, used only to find and fix bugs.
A Firebase installation identifier and standard mobile advertising/analytics identifiers exposed by Android, used to de‑duplicate installs and measure retention. These do not include your name, email, or phone number, which we never ask for.
Firebase may derive a coarse, country/region‑level location from IP address for aggregate reporting. The app does not request or use device GPS location.
We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or payment information, because the app does not use accounts, subscriptions, or in‑app purchases in this version. See Section 8 for how this may change if the app later ships an ad‑supported or paid version.
How the remote itself works
To find and control your TV, the app uses your phone's local network access permission to discover Android TV / Google TV devices on your Wi‑Fi (via standard network service discovery) and to open a direct, encrypted connection to the TV you choose.
If you use the voice‑search button, the app requests microphone access (Android's RECORD_AUDIO permission) only for as long as you are actively speaking.
Microphone audio is streamed directly and only to your TV over your local network, exactly like your TV's own remote's voice button — it is never sent to SwiftSofts' servers, never recorded to a file, and never used for advertising or analytics profiling.
Audio streaming stops the moment you release the voice button or the TV ends the voice session. The app only records while the microphone icon shows it is actively listening.
The Cast tab lets you send your own photos, videos, and web links from your phone to your TV. When you cast a photo or video from your device:
The app includes a simple web browser so you can find and cast a web video to your TV. Pages you visit are loaded by an on‑device browser component (like any other Android browser) directly from the websites you navigate to.
Your browsing activity in this feature stays on your device: we do not proxy, log, or transmit the pages you visit or the links you open to our servers. Ordinary web technologies used by the sites themselves (such as their own cookies) are governed by those sites' own privacy policies, not this one.
Remote for Android does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier to use any feature of the app. Your settings (theme, language, paired TVs, favorite apps) are stored only on your device.
| This version | No advertising. The app does not include any ad SDK and shows no ads of any kind. |
|---|---|
| Future versions | A future version of the app may introduce a single, clearly‑labeled ad placement (for example, a banner) to help keep the app free. If that happens, we will update this policy before that version is released, describe what advertising partner is used and what data it processes, and update the "Effective date" above accordingly. Continuing to use a version that includes ads means you accept the updated policy in effect at that time. |
We do not sell your information. Limited information described in Section 2 is processed by our analytics and crash‑reporting provider:
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SwiftSofts, our users, or others.
Remote for Android is a general‑audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below so we can address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features (such as advertising, described in Section 8) or legal requirements. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Effective date" above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing update notes.
